I was able to shift my enigma to fit the temp changes and sleep comfortably the whole night. They just don’t put enough fill in it,, I wish I would have gotten 950/10 Or went with something totally different. I use it with my Eno hammock, and have slept in luxury. I was nervous about how delicate it may be, but it has been a robust bag that has greatly outperformed my expectations. When the sun comes up in the morning and you aren't ready to get up, you just tuck your head inside the quilt (no problem with my height) and its pitch black. Thanks EE for lightening my pack and keeping me cozy in the BC and allowing me to hold on to a wad of hard earned cash to spend on other gear. I got the 20 degree quilt, long, wide version with DownTek and I had no problem staying warm. I ordered an enigma after loads of research on which sleeping system would be best for me. I Love the quality and it is a comfortable quilt. Game changer. All seemed to be very favourable. I've owned dozens of bags from Big Agnes, REI, Western Mountaineering, Montbel, and Sierra Designs. It quick, and glorious. Especially the wide width which allowed lots of turning and repositioning w/o exposing my torso to drafts. Lightweight but amazingly warm for 40 degree rating. Sure, the temperature rating and fill for my bag were costly, but given my years now with my 20 degree Revelation, I'm confident my Enigma will be with me for many years to come. The bag is incredibly lofty but I can compress it to fit in a 2 litre drybag with no difficulty. My intent was never to swindle anyone out of a warranty, but to just have and use a good-quality quilt. Hints: Make sure you adjust the buckles on the straps such that the bag tucks under you. I like to go out 6-10 days so I am so happy with the weight, packablility and warmth. I can't see myself ever going back to a mummy or traditional sleeping bag. Thank you so much for the incredible piece of gear. Important Note: Custom orders cannot be changed once they are in production. She loves it after a 5 day trip in the Hoover National Wilderness. I recommend these quilts to all of my friends. The DownTek down is amazing, and stay lofted even when it gets a little damp. I love this bag! I've been comfortable with a NeoAir XTherm & a bivy to -15`F. It doesn't weigh much or take up too much space. Our family has used these products over and over again and they have always exceeded our expectations! I stuff it into a sea to summit compressing water proof sack and it fits perfectly at the bottom of my pack along side of clothing stuff sack. I just returned from a 7-day backpack in the Sierra Nevada, and used my 10F-rated Enigma quilt-bag for the first time. I haven't had it in temp less than 10C, so I'm looking forward to using it in cooler temps. Thank you Enlightened Equipment for making such a great piece of gear! weight) equivalent to 2000 pounds, or 910kg. In warmer weather sleep with it open face up and simply open up the top portion. This review is for Enigma 800 DownTek regular/regular. I can stuff it into the end of my bag where nothing else fits and it compresses to take up almost no space! All around impressed by the quilt! The only complaint I have about this product is that I didn't buy it sooner! Pushing it down to the colder end of it's temp rating I used my down jacket for my arms with a hood, a hat, gloves, neck gator. I've been using a quilt for several years during the warmer months but wanted to switch from a mummy bag for winter also. It also packs down very small and is still lightweight. I bought mine for a PCT hike and it saved me so much space and weight that I was able to fit all my kit inside my pack without strapping anything externally. I now have Three quilts from Enlightened Equipment and they cover most of my all year round Backpacking trips. Also sleeping with extra clothes helps too. The stitching and workmanship on this quilt is Top Shelf. The quilt got here in a very timely manner (much quicker than I expected). At the higher night temperatures (30-40s), the bag was fine though I had to sleep in a poly t-shirt and smartwool long underwear because bare legs on the mat feel odd (for now?). Construction is solid, it's very comfortable to get into and out... Not having to worry about zippers and just unclip a small clasp is incredible. Just got back from backpacking locally. It was continued with overstitching a couple of stiches and is almost unnoticeable by the naked eye. 10,000 dollar bill. Super Warm! In the past I have been weary of quilts, but really have not slept well in the typical mummy bag design. Just got to use the quilt 950 20 degree worked great, been using an 20 degree rei sub kilo for years this was a great upgrade. Took it out on a weekend hike and I recommend it so much. I wish I was in my enigma right now. As for recommendations for others who are looking into getting this same bag I might make these suggestions: if you are going to be dealing with extreme winds (+50 MPH) like January nights here on the plains you might invest in 20D fabric instead of the 10D. But they assured me I would receive it in time. I have the regular/regular size and am a petite (5'4", 105 lb) woman. I would also recommend this to a bear at hibernation during cold winter nights, no frost bites. Once the quilt had been returned, I noted they had more evenly distributed the down in the middle baffles, but had done nothing to move down from the outer baffles (where it does little to keep you warm), to the inner baffles (which are critical in keeping you warm). Fits nicely inside my packraft. And just to save you some shopping research (though I guess a true gearhead would do it anyway) -- this is the best price you're going to find for a lightweight, 0-degree down quilt...unless you make one yourself, of course. I haven't used the straps that go around your sleeping pad but I figure I will the next time since it prevents any leaks of warmth on the edges. So nice to be able to have my arms free and to be able to turn easily. - The snaps near the mouth concern me regarding rips/tears. Just got back from a 5 day trip using my new 20° F Enigma. It worked perfectly with nighttime temps down to the low 30s one night, and somewhat warmer on the other two. I can attest to both! I am a side sleeper so my knees are always bent. Jim, This quilt is all they said it would be. There is nothing worse than bad gear to make a kid not want to venture out into the wilderness. My husband is now wanting to change from his mummy bag to an EE quilt. We'll calculate using a mixture of British pounds and kg and American dollars and lbs, so watch those figures carefully. To say I'm happy would be an understatement. I just finished a week of backpacking in Olympic National Park with night time temperatures from 20*-26* and it performed exactly as stated. Love! I didn't keep my 0 degree wide enigma due to the fact that the whole quilt idea just doesn't work for me. Considering the build quality, price, weight, and design I'd say that the wait time is a no brainer. It was created as a response to the September 11 attacks.. I looked online at warmer rated down bags and was shocked at the high price and weight so did nothing. They work very well, although the buckles are a bit fiddly. The very thin 10D material does mean however that you treat it with special care. So comfortable, so light feels like im floating when in this thing. I carry a fleece sleeping bag liner for any unexpected cold fronts but my 50 degree quit has been toasty so far. Great quality, great comfort, great specs. A ton of American one-dollar bills, with each bill weighing 1g, would be worth $908,000, whilst a ton of nickels (weighing 5g each) works out as $9,071.80. I'd packed a warmer down bag and just in case and left it in the pickup. The Enigma is so much lighter than the sleeping bag I usually carry, as well. I have also Backpacked 2 snowy nights in Silverton, Colorado and stayed nice and toasty, I think the weather said 27F. The straps help keep this quilt snug and lock in your body heat, so definitely familiarize yourself with this setup before you head out. One other note, I reached out to Enlightened Equipment once after ordering and the customer service was great! All in all, I can't say enough good things about this quilt. I decided to Google what a quilt was for backpacking. I just received my quilt in the mail today and had to write a review. Couldn't be happier with it. I use it with a Nemo Tensor 20R pad and the Sea to Summit Reactor CompactPlus when it is cold out. A ton (t) is a unit of mass (i.e. The material and sewing of the bag seems good at this time. Toasty warm all night! Love this Enigma 20 degree 850 fill quilt I bought. After a couple nights out (nothing down close to the 20* limit, though) i can definitely say that it is hella snug. Both the short ton and long ton are equivalent to 20 hundredweight, but with the hundredweight defined differently under each system. If I were to order this product again I would have asked for extra long and extra wide versus just long and wide. I have nothing but good things to say about this. I've always taken care not to get my down bags wet, so I felt the extra protection from the 20d material was not necessary for me. I had kinda back and forth on a new sleeping bag for a while and eventually decided on a quilt, and then on the Enigma wide, 20 degree option with an extra oz of fill and 20D external fabric. It also may help to go for some added fill. It's soft feels great against my skin, although it might be somewhat fragile for the same reason. I have one more daughter who will be joining Scouts BSA in a few years. The life of this product is likely similar to many field products. Later that day the quilt dried very fast in the sun (maybe 30 minutes). Super lightweight and packs down pretty small. Pack size is key when going on over night kayaking trips because if it doesn't fit in a dry bag in your kayak, it's not coming with you.
